Become a Work for the Dole Host
With your help, job seekers could gain valuable skills and work experiences
Do you need Volunteers?
As well as supporting your local community by offering a work experience placement, you will have access to an extra set of hands to undertake activities and projects that may not normally get done.
Funding may be available to you to host a Work for the Dole activity. This funding can help offset costs such as supervision, work health and safety controls or equipment related to the activity.
We are currently looking for host organisations to work with us to provide valuable work experiences to job seekers living in:
- Mount Isa
- Charters Towers
- Brisbane Southeast – South of the river, including Beaudesert and Logan City
What is Work for the Dole?
Work for the Dole is part of the Australian Government’s Workforce Australia framework. If your business is a not-for-profit organisation, you could provide job seekers work experience by placing them in activities where they can contribute to their local community, build new skills, and grow their confidence and skills.
We are always looking for not-for-profit host organisations to work with us to provide valuable work experiences, get in touch with our team to find out how we can help.
Work for the Dole activities must not displace paid workers. Participants cannot do tasks that would normally be done by a paid worker where it impacts casual or part-time work, reduces the hours of a paid worker or reduces the available overtime for an existing employee.
How can Work for the Dole benefit your organisation?
As a host, you can offset the cost of suitable projects and we will work with you to create individual placement opportunities, like working in your retail store or to develop larger community projects such as building and restoration projects.
Not-for-profit organisations often have limited resources; by hosting a Work for the Dole activity you will have access to job seekers that could undertake projects that otherwise you could not complete.
What is the role of the host organisation?
As a Work for the Dole Host, you will be responsible for:
- Supervision and attendance records
- Training for the activity
- Meeting work health and safety requirements
Your Designer Life coordinator will continue to provide you with ongoing support.
We have job seekers wanting to begin work experience in:
Hospitality and retail
Building and construction
Animal and wildlife work
Aged care and community services
Entry level warehousing
