About the Employability Skills Training program
The Designer Life EST program is designed to assist our Participants explore their career options, help build job search and workplace skills, and enhance their readiness for work.
Our Trainers will offer guidance with:
- Exploring Career Options: Discover various career paths and understand the skills required for these jobs.
- Developing Job Search and Workplace Skills: Receive practical support to enhance your job search abilities and workplace competencies, including problem-solving, communication, decision-making, and teamwork.
- Building Industry-Specific Knowledge: Gain insights into different local industries such as hospitality or aged care to understand their requirements and opportunities.
- Connecting with Businesses: Meet with local employers to learn about their work environments and expectations, helping to better prepare for a future workplace.
By attending EST, Participants can acquire industry-specific skills and accredited training.
Developing employability skills
EST is made up of two training blocks which focus on different content:
Block One
Block One can enhance in-demand employability skills to boost your job prospects. Our Trainers will help with resumes, communication, interview prep, and problem-solving, while industry activities let you connect with local employers and learn about different workplaces.
Block Two
Block Two program can focus on job hunting skills, career development and interview skills. It can also work in partnership with local Employers to provide relevant skills and knowledge to Participants. Through pre-employment training, hands-on group activities, and work placement opportunities, Participants will learn practical skills to assist them in entering the workforce.
Participants have the flexibility to enrol in either one or both of these comprehensive blocks, tailoring the experience to their individual learning goals.
Career Centre Facilities
Designer Life provides digital equipment and internet access for participants to use during classes, helping them build confidence, develop computer skills, search for jobs, and submit online applications.

EST courses are available if you are over the age of 15, registered with Workforce Australia Services or Workforce Australia Online. EST has a specific focus on developing employability skills aligned with job opportunities in the local labour market.
